The DIHK Commission for Chamber Legal Policy focuses on the development of chamber law, questions of internal organizational governance, and the legal framework for the work of the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IHKs). The commission advises the DIHK on fundamental chamber policy issues and supports the organization in interpreting and applying chamber law.
Members include legal experts and chief executives of IHKs, as well as the DIHK's chief executive officer. The tasks encompass advising on chamber legal and policy matters, providing decision-making recommendations to the presidency, plenary assembly, and CEO conference, issuing action recommendations to the IHKs, and approving model articles of law.
The Commission for Chamber Legal Policy is a key advisory body of the DIHK for all legal and structural matters of the IHK organization. It deals with fundamental issues of chamber legal and policy matters, interpreting statutory requirements, and addressing governance, transparency, and task distribution within the chamber organization.
The commission generally meets twice a year and additionally as needed when current developments or legal issues require timely consultation. Through exchanges between legal experts, representatives from the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the DIHK's chief executive officer, practical matters are thoroughly discussed and solutions developed.
