The DIHK Education Committee addresses the full range of education policy issues related to vocational training and further education at the federal level. Since the IHK organisation has a legally mandated role in vocational education, the committee's work touches on fundamental and strategically crucial questions for the operational capabilities of the IHKs.

The topics range from modernising training regulations to digital examination and learning formats, as well as qualification initiatives for existing skilled workers. Additionally, the committee examines the impact of demographic change and develops solutions for companies reliant on qualified young talent and skilled workers.

The last meeting of the DIHK Education Committee was held on 18 November 2025 in Berlin, with a preliminary event on 17 November. It focused on current education policy issues, particularly the new orientation and key initiatives of the Federal Ministry for Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ), challenges in vocational training, apprentices from third countries, and scholarship programmes of the Foundation for the Promotion of Vocational Education (SBB).

The next meeting of the DIHK Education Committee will take place on 19 May 2026 in Berlin, with a preliminary event on 18 May.
