The DIHK Trade Committee focuses on the impact of digitalisation on business models, the competitiveness of various trade channels, challenges of demographic change, as well as location and framework conditions for stationary and digital trade. The committee brings together expertise from the trade sector and supports the DIHK in trade policy matters.
The DIHK Trade Committee deals with diverse future topics of stationary, hybrid, and digital trade. These include technological developments, new consumption patterns, the transformation of city centres, as well as issues concerning tax and bureaucratic burdens. The diverse industry backgrounds of the committee members contribute multiple perspectives to the discussions – from specialist and wholesale trade to online trade and hybrid business models.
The constituent meeting of the committee for the term 2023–2026 took place on 18 April 2023 at the DIHK in Berlin.
Bernd Behrens, Managing Director of SECTARI GmbH, was re-elected as committee chairman. The deputy chairwoman is Carla Gundlach, Managing Director of bi-markt Bürobedarfsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG.
The next meeting of the DIHK Trade Committee will take place on 27 and 28 April 2026 in Munich . Current developments in trade, regulatory framework conditions, and strategic challenges of the sector will be further discussed.
