How does science assess the upcoming challenges, and what possible paths does it foresee to overcome them? Together with the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) Berlin, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) is organizing an exciting exchange at the Haus der Deutschen Wirtschaft on June 17 from 9:30 AM to 3:20 PM with leading economists of the country who play a critical role in political consulting.

The program starts at 10 AM with a welcome address by DIHK Chief Executive Helena Melnikov and ESMT President Jörg Rocholl. Subsequently, Markus Brunnermeier from Princeton University, New Jersey (USA), will deliver his keynote speech "Economy in Transformation" discussing opportunities, risks, and societal expectations in the 21st century.

In three panels, experts from the scientific community will then debate the topics:

  • Social Market Economy – Are framework adjustments necessary?
  • Industrial policy in a changing world
  • International economic policy in a changing world
