Dual vocational training has a long tradition in Germany; it has become a success story and the guarantor of low youth unemployment. However, this high-quality training also requires good framework conditions—for companies and young people alike.
The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), along with its partners in the Alliance for Vocational Education and Training, is committed to this cause. The Alliance serves as the central political platform to enhance the attractiveness, quality, and performance of dual vocational training. Its mission: bringing companies and young people together and creating a conducive environment for qualified vocational qualifications.
Summer of Vocational Training
To promote dual vocational training, the Alliance for Vocational Education and Training hosts the "Summer of Vocational Training" every year. Through online and in-person formats, topics such as career prospects in the training sector, finding a training position, funding opportunities, and other training-relevant themes are presented.
Substantial Commitment by Training Companies
Each year, companies in Germany invest around 23 billion euros in training young people. This ensures they have the skilled workers that they will need in the future. This dedication to developing new talent is exceptional. In many other countries, vocational training is a responsibility of the state. In Germany, dual vocational training contributes to low youth unemployment. Those completing such training have excellent employment prospects afterward.
