DIHK President Peter Adrian on the EU Compass for Competitiveness

"Boost for Europe in the global race necessary"

Through its EU Compass for Competitiveness, the European Commission provides a roadmap for improving conditions for businesses.

29/01/2025 - "European companies face immense challenges in the global competition. Over the past five years, they have, unfortunately, perceived EU economic policies more as a burden. According to the assessments of a clear majority of German industrial enterprises, the competitiveness of the European location has noticeably declined since 2019. Hence, it is crucial that the new EU Commission now presents the EU Compass for Competitiveness, outlining a plan to improve the framework conditions for businesses. Cutting bureaucracy, completing the single market, reducing energy prices, and advancing trade partnerships are important goals from the perspective of industry. However, actions must now follow that make business operations at local companies noticeably easier across all sectors. Only then will the reforms deliver the necessary boost for Europe’s economic location."
