Minerals Resource Coordination Center

Companies in Germany that rely on importing mineral resources and intermediate products are facing increasing difficulties in obtaining them. Support is offered by the "Minerals Resource Coordination Center" coordinated by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).

The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) collaborates closely with the German Mineral Resources Agency (DERA) and Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI) within the Coordination Center established in mid-2024.

The institution channels enquiries from companies with resource needs and those from suppliers. The German Mineral Resources Agency (DERA), located at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources, and Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI) support the worldwide AHK network with its resource competence centres in resource-rich countries.

Response to globally changing rules

The idea behind the Coordination Center stems from discussions by the three institutions with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs. While resource supply and its security can be handled by companies if the market operates effectively, the rules of engagement have drastically changed worldwide.

The Coordination Center has been incorporated into the German Mining & Resources Network – a collaboration of the AHK resource competence centres, DERA, and GTAI, also coordinated by the DIHK. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs (BMWK) provides financial support and complements these activities.

You can find the "Coordination Center" at www.ahk.de.
