Cabinet Decision on the EU AI Regulation

On February 11th, the Federal Cabinet adopted the draft of a law for the national implementation of the EU AI Regulation (AI-Act). The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) outlines what is now important from the perspective of the economy.

Dirk Binding, DIHK Head of Division for Digital Economy, Infrastructure, and Regional Policy:

11.02.2026 - "The goal of the draft law to implement the EU AI Regulation in an innovation-friendly and low-bureaucracy manner is correct. What matters now: Market supervision must provide tangible relief and clear legal certainty. Authorities should consistently utilize their discretionary powers to accelerate innovation and applications. Duplicate reporting obligations, fragmented responsibilities, and contradictory interpretations must be eliminated. Efficient, streamlined, and coordinated supervision across all industries and products is mandatory. Legal uncertainty and unnecessary complexity stifle innovation – ultimately risking the competitiveness of German companies."
