Important signal for greater reliability in transatlantic trade

On the vote on the trilogue agreement in the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade, Melanie Vogelbach, DIHK Head of International Economic Policy, said

"Today's approval in the European Parliament of the trilogue agreement on the Turnberry Deal is an important signal for greater reliability in transatlantic trade. The German economy now needs one thing above all: planning security instead of new uncertainty. Therefore, it is now important to implement the agreements quickly and to avoid further trade policy escalations or additional hurdles in trade with the USA. At the same time, the EU must not lose sight of its own interests. It must continue to push for the removal of unlawful U.S. tariffs - particularly on steel and aluminum - while also advancing new trade agreements and strategic partnerships. Especially in geopolitically uncertain times, open trade remains a key building block of economic resilience."
