Robin Borrmann becomes new Deputy Chief Executive Officer of DIHK

As of January 1, 2026, Dr. Robin Borrmann has assumed the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).

The DIHK Presidium unanimously appointed the 44-year-old doctoral lawyer at the end of November.

Borrmann was previously in charge of the Finance, Controlling, and Public Budget Law division. In his new role, he oversees central services, finance, personnel, and IT. Chief Executive Officer Helena Melnikov continues to be responsible for economic policy and education.
The previous Deputy Chief Executive Officer Achim Dercks resigned his position on December 31, 2025. After nearly 30 years at the DIHK, he uses this moment for a reorientation, including for family reasons.
Sofie Geisel also ended her mandate in the Chief Executive Management on December 31, 2025. She remains Managing Director of DIHK Service GmbH and will increasingly focus on developing the GmbH as a strategic tool of the DIHK in policy advisory and collaboration with IHKs and AHKs. Sofie Geisel will continue to collaborate closely with the Chief Executive Management.

Volker Treier remains a member of the Chief Executive Management, retaining his responsibilities for foreign trade and the AHK network.
“With this new setup, we are creating the foundation for a more streamlined, efficient, and impactful organization – serving our members, the economy, and the further development of our organization,” said Chief Executive Officer Helena Melnikov.
DIHK President Peter Adrian expressed his gratitude to the departing Achim Dercks during the general meeting for “his longstanding, extraordinary commitment and outstanding achievements for the DIHK as well as the entire IHK network.”
