What happens to your data when you visit the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Facebook presence? Find our privacy information here.
The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) relies on the technical platform and services of Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (formerly Facebook Ireland Limited), 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland, for the information service offered.
Please note that you use the Facebook page and its functions at your own responsibility. This applies particularly to interactive functions (for example, commenting, sharing, rating). Therefore, carefully review what information you want to disclose and share with other users in your own interest.
When using Facebook, personal data and content are collected and processed, such as information and content you provide yourself, information about the devices you use (like your IP address or cookies for data collection, i.e., small files stored on your devices), or information from partners who use Facebook's like button on their pages and thus provide Facebook with information about your activities. Facebook describes in general terms the information it receives and how it is used in its data use policies (https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy). There you will also find information about how to contact Facebook, options for objection, and settings for advertisements.
Facebook can use the information to provide us as operators of Facebook pages with statistical data such as gender and age distribution about the usage of the Facebook page. Furthermore, Facebook may display further information or advertisements to you based on your preferences. Facebook provides more information on this at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/help/pages/insights.
The data collected about you in this context is processed by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. and may also be transferred to countries outside the European Union.
Facebook adjusted its privacy policies and general terms and conditions on August 31, 2020. According to this, the following additional conditions for data processing apply to third parties who operate a Facebook fan page, including the DIHK. These are summarized on the following Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/page_controller_addendum).
Facebook and the DIHK are jointly responsible for the shared processing of the data. The information required under § 13 para. 1 lit. a) and b) GDPR in Facebook's privacy policy can be found on the Facebook website https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
The addendum for controllers includes products affected by shared processing that collect and transmit personal data. How this transmission and processing occurs and for what purposes is described in the terms of use referenced in the controller addendum.
Further information on how Facebook processes personal data, including the legal basis Facebook relies on and the possibilities for exercising the rights of data subjects against Facebook, can be found in Facebook's data use policy on its website.
We point out that the controller addendum must be concluded with Facebook after the update of the privacy terms and general terms and conditions by Facebook in August 2020. This is necessary to define the respective responsibilities for fulfilling the obligations under GDPR regarding shared processing. We are responsible and obligated to provide the affected individuals with at least this information about joint responsibility with Facebook.
After the update of the privacy terms and general terms and conditions, the DIHK must agree with Facebook that Facebook is responsible for fulfilling the rights of data subjects according to Articles 15-20 GDPR concerning the personal data stored by Facebook after shared processing.
How Facebook uses the data from visiting Facebook pages for its own purposes, the extent to which activities on the Facebook page are assigned to individual users, how long Facebook stores this data, and whether data from visiting the Facebook page is passed on to third parties is neither conclusively nor clearly stated by Facebook and is unknown to us.
When accessing a Facebook page, the IP address assigned to your device is transmitted to Facebook. According to Facebook, this IP address is anonymized (for "German" IP addresses) and deleted after 90 days. Facebook also stores information about users' devices (e.g., within the "login notification" function); Facebook may thus be able to assign IP addresses to individual users.
If you are currently logged into Facebook as a user, a cookie with your Facebook ID is located on your device. This allows Facebook to track that you have visited this page and how you have used it. This applies to all other Facebook pages as well. Through Facebook buttons embedded in websites, Facebook can record your visits to these websites and assign them to your Facebook profile. Based on this data, content or advertising can be tailored to you.
If you want to avoid this, you should log out of Facebook or deactivate the "stay logged in" function, delete the cookies present on your device, and close and restart your browser. This will delete Facebook information that directly identifies you. Thus, you can use our Facebook page without revealing your Facebook ID.
If you access interactive functions of the page (Like, Comment, Share, Messages, etc.), a Facebook login mask appears. After any login, you are once again recognizable to Facebook as a specific user. Alternatively, you can use a different browser than usual to visit our Facebook page.
Information on how you can manage or delete information about you can be found on the following Facebook pages: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy
As providers of the information service, we do not collect or process any data from your use of our service. This privacy policy can be found in the current version under the "Data Policy" section on our Facebook page.
