Voluntary Commitment in the Examination Committee

The implementation of vocational education examinations by the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IHK) relies heavily on voluntary examiners. IHK Examination Committees always include at least one employee, one employer representative, and one vocational school teacher. An IHK Examination Committee is tasked to: Evaluate solutions to tasks completed in writing by examinees, Conduct oral examinations, observe practical tests, and Determine whether examinees have achieved the professional competence required. Examiners receive an expense allowance for their voluntary work from their respective IHK. Moreover, volunteer IHK examiners: contribute to the availability of adequately trained professionals, gain high social recognition for their commitment, establish valuable connections and networks, acquire experiences that can be leveraged as trainers and in personnel management, enable economically relevant and business-focused examinations, and foster the self-governance of the regional economy.
