The DIHK Education Committee accompanies federal education policy decisions. It focuses on the attractiveness and modernisation of vocational education, the digital transformation in educational processes, the challenges of demographic change, and solutions involving artificial intelligence (AI). The committee integrates the perspectives of businesses and the IHK organisation into political discussions.
The DIHK Education Committee addresses a broad range of federal-level policy issues related to vocational education and training. As the IHK organisation has a legally established mandate within vocational education, the committee's work touches on fundamental and strategically critical questions for the capabilities of the IHKs.
Topics range from modernising training regulations, implementing digital exam and learning formats, launching upskilling initiatives for current professionals to integrating AI advancements into vocational training. Additionally, the committee examines demographic changes and devises solutions for businesses reliant on a skilled and talented workforce.
The most recent meeting of the DIHK Education Committee took place on 19 May 2026 in Berlin, with an evening session on 18 May. The next meeting is scheduled for 24 November 2026 in Berlin, preceded by an evening session on 23 November.
