08.09.2026 - „Unfortunately, exports are once again experiencing a setback during the summer. The German foreign trade is directly impacted by the volatility in trade policies. For example, exports to the United States have increased due to the tariff agreement under the Turnberry Deal. At the same time, a relatively weak global economy and an immense surge in Chinese competition are pressuring German exporters. All of this culminates in a trade deficit. 

The much-needed boost from improved site conditions in Germany and Europe is still lacking. However, the EU's trade policy agenda does point to better prospects for a rules-based and reliable international trade between the European single market and important international trading partners."
