The INSM Education Monitor has shown for years what our DIHK training surveys also confirm: School quality is declining, and the level of education is falling. An increasing number of young people leave school without being confident in reading, writing, and arithmetic. This makes it increasingly difficult for our companies to find qualified young talent.

Many companies already support students with tutoring, targeted training in mathematics and STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), as well as close professional and personal support. However, our training companies must not become repair shops for failed education policies. What is missed in classrooms cannot be compensated for in companies.

Education must therefore return to the top of the political agenda. The federal and state governments are called upon to join forces and mobilize all resources. For schools that secure the basics, promote talent, and credibly deliver on the promise of advancement through education. Because without well-trained skilled workers, our country's competitiveness will remain an unfulfilled promise."
