The focus areas of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) Tourism Committee include bureaucracy reduction in the hospitality sector, the digital transformation of tourism services, securing skilled workers, as well as sustainability and competitiveness in tourism. The committee thus accompanies key developments that are increasingly decisive for companies in the tourism industry.
The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tourism Committee addresses the diverse cross-sectional issues of the German and European tourism industry. Committee members are delegated by Chambers of Commerce and Industry and bring their practical experience from nearly all areas of the sector—including hospitality, gastronomy, exhibition and congress economy, travel services, tourism-related service providers, and regional tourism agencies.
This broad composition ensures that various perspectives are incorporated into deliberations, allowing for early recognition of current challenges and the development of well-founded policy positions.
During the inaugural meeting of the DIHK Tourism Committee on 23 May 2023, Robert Rückel, Director of the German Spy Museum, was elected as chairman for the committee period 2023–2026.
At the spring meeting of 2026, held on 16 and 17 March in Berlin, members gathered under the theme: Tourism as a Location Factor for Germany.
