12.08.2026 – "The planned reduction of the grid fee subsidy is a step in the wrong direction and contradicts the Federal Government's objective of reducing electricity costs on a long-term basis. With network charges now contributing up to 30 percent of electricity costs, they have become a significant cost factor for businesses. If the subsidy indeed drops from its current EUR 6.5 billion by 15 percent, costs will rise for businesses and consumers alike. Enterprises, which were already excluded from electricity tax reductions, now face further rising electricity prices. 

If the goal is to strengthen Germany as a business location, we cannot afford to backslide on electricity costs. Especially at this moment, companies require steadfast framework conditions and competitive energy prices to re-invest. Instead of cutting subsidies for grid fees, the Federal Government should transfer additional levies to the federal budget to sustainably lower electricity prices."
