The DIHK Money and Credit Committee is one of the broad-based expert committees of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK). Its 94 members represent the entire spectrum of the German financial system:

• The universal banking system with its three pillars – private banks, public banks, and cooperative banks,
• Specialized banks such as building societies, guarantee banks, or mortgage banks,
• Other key capital market players like financial service providers and development banks.

Additionally, commercial enterprises, academia, and full-time representatives of the IHKs are involved in the committee. This diversity enables the body to comprehensively evaluate financial market developments and provide practical feedback to policymakers and regulators.

Established in May 2023, the committee has since been addressing vital financial issues relevant to businesses and financial institutions, including:

• Regulation and supervision in the banking and finance sector,
• The impact of European and national sustainable finance regulations,
• Trends and challenges in corporate finance,
• The development and potential introduction of the Digital Euro, which is currently under intense discussion.

The topics are explored in the committee through regular meetings and consultations with policymakers, regulators, and academia.
